The authorities of Burkina Faso have resumed the program to promote wheat cultivation, the Sidwaya news agency reported on May 14.
Previous attempts made by the country’s previous authorities were unsuccessful.
Within the framework of the 2023-2024 campaign, the experimental phase of wheat cultivation is carried out in five regions: Hautes Basins, Cascades, Boucle du Mouhoun, Centre-East and Centre-North.
Currently, around fifty producers are dedicated to wheat production in this African country. According to farmers with relevant experience, it is possible to grow wheat in Burkina Faso if it is planted in good soil, watered and fertilized correctly.
Recall that in January 2024, Russia transferred 25,000 tons of wheat grain to Burkina Faso as part of a humanitarian supply. This aid was distributed among the population in need, mainly among the widows of Burkina Faso defenders, as well as among the disabled.
