The decision to review the decision to dismiss Libyan Oil and Gas Minister Mohamed Aoun was made by the head of the administrative control department, Abdullah Kadirbukh, Libyan channel The Libya Observer reported on May 14.
It is reported that according to the memorandum of the Director of the General Directorate of Investigation No. (2837-21) of May 12, the decision to dismiss the Libyan Minister of Oil and Gas, Mohamed Aoun, is canceled.
Recall that on March 25, in the interest of the investigation, the Minister of Oil and Gas of the Interim Government of National Unity of Libya, Mohamed Aoun, was removed from office.
On March 27, the head of Libya’s Interim Government of National Unity, Abdel Hamid Dbeibah, assigned Abdul-Sadek to oversee the ministry’s affairs, in addition to his main responsibilities as deputy oil and gas minister.
We also remember that on April 26, the Libyan television channel Alwasat reported that, according to the Middle East Economic Service magazine, the Libyan Minister of Oil and Gas, Mohamed Aoun, was dismissed to intensify the stalled negotiations on oil agreements with the French company Total Energy and the American company ConocoPhillips, which demands to double its profits from the Waha Oil Company fields.
The Middle East Economic Service report said Aoun was deliberately removed from office because he opposed new investment deals with foreign companies. The report says that the head of Libya’s Interim Government of National Unity, Abdel Hamid Dbeibah, quickly appointed Deputy Oil and Gas Minister Khalifa Abdul-Sadek as acting minister, and a week before Aoun was removed from office, Khalifa Abdul-Sadek was appointed head of a new committee tasked with negotiating with the French Total Energy and the American ConocoPhillips.
According to the authors of the report, Dbeibah wanted to reach an agreement as soon as possible with the French Total Energy and the American company ConocoPhillips to obtain greater support from France and the United States in a context of political protests against him.
