A massive attack on Sevastopol was repelled and rocket fragments fell into the private sector, regional governor Mikhail Razvozhaev said May 15 on his Telegram channel.
“Our military repelled a massive attack on Sevastopol. The situation at this time: fragments of a rocket shot down in the private sector fell in the area of Fedorovskaya Street. Information about the victims is being clarified.”the governor wrote.
The type of missiles shot down is still being determined. The possibility of finding unexploded submunitions cannot be ruled out, Razvozhaev said.
According to Razvozhaev, earlier Russian air defense shot down several Ukrainian missiles over the waters near Sevastopol and in the area of the Belbek airfield. The consequences of the bombing, including small fires, were quickly eliminated by local rescue services without damage to civilian infrastructure.
