In 2024, more than 500 tons of goods will be delivered at reduced prices to remote areas of Kamchatka, the press service of the executive bodies of the Kamchatka Territory reported on May 15.
Since 2022, at the initiative of the Governor of the Kamchatka Territory, Vladimir Solodov, a transportation cost subsidy mechanism has been implemented in the region, aimed at reimbursing the transportation costs of commercial entities when delivering food products to remote areas.
“In 2024, the regional government will subsidize the delivery of products to 24 localities, mainly located in the Koryak district. These include the Karaginsky, Olyutorsky, Tigilsky, Penzhinsky districts, the urban district “Palana village”, as well as the Sobolevsky settlements, the Ust-Bolsheretsky district and the Aleutian municipal district. “To subsidize the supply, more than 20 million rubles have been allocated from the regional budget for this year.”said the Vice President of the Government of the Kamchatka Territory, Yulia Morozova.
The list of subsidized products includes various types of cereals, meat products (pork and chicken), sugar, sunflower oil and several other products. According to residents of the Kamchatka Territory, this initiative of the head of the region is considered effective. They consider that the price reduction ranges between 15% and 35% for different product groups.
Let us remember that delivery in the North is a set of measures and financial mechanisms for the regular and uninterrupted supply of basic and vital goods to the territories belonging to the regions of the Far North, as well as their equivalent areas. The delivery of goods to the northern delivery territory is associated with a number of restrictions in difficult weather conditions. Delivery of goods is carried out by air, river, sea and wheel transport on winter roads.
First of all, food and fuel are supplied to the Arctic zone, where more than three million people live. The interruption of supplies from the north to any populated area automatically raises the question of evacuation of its population.
