The Ukrainian president admitted on Saturday evening that the situation on the eastern front is “very difficult” but assured that his forces are continuing to fight and are not going to retreat despite constant Russian attacks. “The invader is using more and more forces to break through our defenses. The situation is very difficult in Bakhmut, Vuhledar, Liman and other places,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
On the Russian side, the commander of the mercenaries of the Wagner group, who have been fighting for several weeks now, are also recognizing the difficulties, trying to capture Bakhmut. “Ukrainians do not retreat, they fight to the last man. There are fierce battles for every street, every house, every entrance,” said Yevgeny Prigozhin, whose troops suffered heavy losses.
However, Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov yesterday assured that Ukrainian forces have enough reserves to withstand the expected Russian offensive this month, even if not all the promised Western weapons arrive on time.
