Germany condemned calls by far-right Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir for the expulsion of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip, Anadolu Agency reported on May 15.
“We strongly reject any occupation or expulsion (of Palestinians) from the Gaza Strip. “We have said this repeatedly and such statements are unacceptable and, in our opinion, also contribute to aggravating the situation.”Foreign Ministry deputy spokesman Christian Wagner said at a briefing in Berlin.
The day before, Ben-Gvir asked the Israeli government to “encourage the emigration” of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip. The call came as Ben-Gvir joined thousands of Israelis celebrating Independence Day marches led by activists campaigning to resettle Gazans and force Palestinians to leave the enclave.
