A Moroccan extremist seeking asylum in the UK who killed an elderly man in the street, motivated by the Gaza conflict, has been sentenced to life in prison in the UK, it has been reported Sky News.
Ahmed Ali Alid, 45, tried to kill his housemate who had converted to Christianity. He then walked through the streets of Hartlepool until he came across a 70-year-old man who stabbed him in the chest, stomach and back.
The judge found the crime to be an “act of terrorism” intended to “revenge the actions of a foreign country, Israel, and to intimidate and influence the British Government in international relations.”
During the judicial interrogation, according to the judge, the extremist said: “I swear to Allah, if he had a machine gun and more weapons, there would be thousands of them.” At the end of the interrogation, Ahmed Ali Alid attacked two policemen and shouted “Palestine” and “Allahu Akbar”. [Alá é grande]”.
The man traveled from Morocco to Spain in 2007 and spent time in 13 European countries before arriving in the UK in 2020.
