At least four people have died, mostly due to falling trees, after a severe storm hit Houston in the United States of America this Thursday. Strong wind gusts left about 800,000 homes without power and caused extensive property damage, including broken windows.
This was stated by Mayor John Whitmire in an interview with the local TV channel KRIV, quoted by Reuters, Several power lines were down and street lights were turned off. The President asked the population to stay at home. Public schools are closed this Friday.
The storm hit the southeast Texas Gulf Coast city, the state’s most populous urban center, with wind speeds of 80 to 100 mph.
