NEOM has released a short film about the construction progress of four futuristic cities in Saudi Arabia. On February 6, the Designboom portal writes about this.
The film shows real-life footage of large-scale construction in the NEOM regions, including the 140km city of THE LINE, Troena, Sindala and Oksagon. This is the first film in the series to show the progress of NEOM as construction continues.
Architecture firms that may be involved in the megacity project include OMA, Adjaye Associates, Morphosis, Coop Himmelb(l)au, Studio Fuksas, Peri Cobb Freed & Partners, Tom Wiscombe Architecture, HOK, Delugan Meissl Associated Architects, Oyler Wu Collaborative and UNStudio.
The starting point for the massive development will be a resort on the island of Sindala, which will open its doors in 2024. It will be the first resort on the territory of NEOM and the center of yacht tourism in the Red Sea.
The city of Troena becomes the starting point for excursions in the mountains and on land, while THE LINE retains its name as the flagship city of four metropolitan areas.
Oksagon, the fourth city, is positioned as a center of advanced research, a possible candidate for NEOM to continue advancing its research on the exclusive use of alternative energy sources (solar, wind and hydrogen).
