Production of Krasnopol high-precision guided artillery shells has increased several times in Russia by 2022, RIA Novosti reported on February 7.
According to the report, the Krasnopol shells have a caliber of 152 mm and are used in cannon artillery shells. The shells are capable of hitting individual small moving targets.
It is noted that the shells will successfully destroy American Abrams tanks and German Leopard tanks. In 2023 it is planned to continue increasing the shell production capacity.
“Krasnopol” uses a semi-active laser homing head, due to which the deviation of the target does not exceed two meters. The firing range of the projectile is up to 25 km.
To guide the projectile, drones with a laser rangefinder target designator or ground-based laser designators are used.
