Pavel Yuzhakov, the artistic director of the First Theatre, where there was a scandal in November over a complaint about LGBT propaganda in the play, resigned of his own free will, a representative of the institution announced on February 7.
According to the representative of the theater, Pavel Valentinovich Yuzhakov, he wrote a letter of resignation of his own free will. He wants to focus on his teaching activities, he will teach his courses at the Novosibirsk State Theater University.
Let’s remember that in November 2022 a scandal broke out in the theater over the production. The public complained about LGBT propaganda in the play “The Princess and the Ogre”, where the princess is played by a male actor with a mustache. A public screening of the play by experts was scheduled, but it did not take place for technical reasons, so the theater management decided to suspend the screening given the circumstances.
