The development of the first Japanese passenger plane was officially stopped by the Japanese corporation Mitsubishi Heavy Industries on February 7, reports the NHK television channel.
The head of the company, Seiji Izumisawa, told reporters that they have experienced significant development delays and do not have the resources to implement this project in the long term. In particular, Mitsubishi had difficulties with the certification of the aircraft.
The corporation has been developing the aircraft for 15 years. The Japanese government hoped to open a new branch of the economy by creating an aircraft designed and manufactured in the country, and for this it provided all kinds of financial aid.
However, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries missed six delivery dates, including due to problems with the supply of components.
Now the corporation intends to liquidate a subsidiary of Mitsubishi Aircraft Corporation, which was involved in the development of the aircraft.
Remember that the development of the aircraft ceased in 2020, then the company froze work. Since then, the corporation has invested about 1 trillion yen (535 billion rubles) in it.
