A delegation from the Rostov region laid flowers at the “Soviet Falcon” monument, erected in Beijing in memory of the fallen Soviet volunteer pilots who participated in the Chinese people’s war against the Japanese invaders, on May 23 during a working trip . to the People’s Republic of China, said the president of the region’s legislative assembly, Alexander Ishchenko, on his Telegram channel.
The delegation met with the author of this sculpture, Yuan Sikun. In 2024, the sculptor was awarded the Order of Friendship for his great contribution to strengthening cultural and humanitarian cooperation between the Russian and Chinese people.
Ishchenko noted that 2024 is a special year in the history of China-Russia relations.
“This year marks the 75th anniversary of the proclamation of the People’s Republic of China and the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between our countries. And next year will mark the 80th anniversary of the Victory obtained by the Soviet Union in the Great Patriotic War and China in the war of resistance to Japanese aggression.”Ishchenko wrote.

He remembered the sacrifices made by the Soviet Union and China at the altar of Victory in World War II. He also recalled the assistance provided by the Soviet army to the Chinese people in their liberation struggle.
