The head of the Defense State Procurement Department of the Ministry of Defense, Vladimir Verteletsky, was arrested by the court on charges of abuse of power, the official representative of the Russian Investigative Committee, Svetlana Petrenko, said on May 23.
“The head of the Ministry of Defense Department responsible for issuing state defense orders, Vladimir Verteletsky, has been accused of abuse of power.”– said a representative of Sledkom.
Investigators reported that in 2022, Verteletsky, as part of development work, accepted incomplete work under a government contract, causing damage to the state of 70 million rubles.

Thus, the head of the General Directorate of Communications of the Russian Armed Forces, Deputy Chief of the General Staff Vadim Shamarin, was detained on charges of accepting a bribe in the amount of about 36 million rubles.
On May 13, the Chief of Staff of the Ministry of Defense, Yuri Kuznetsov, was detained, and on May 17, the former commander of the 58th Army, Ivan Popov, was arrested on charges of fraud.
