American aircraft manufacturer Boeing has a “long way to go” to resolve flight safety issues, Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Director Mike Whitaker said on May 23, Malay Mail reported.
In late February, FAA Administrator Mike Whitaker gave Boeing 90 days to develop a comprehensive plan to address “systemic quality control issues” and prohibited expanding production of the 737 MAX.
Boeing faces mounting questions after a door panel came off during a Jan. 5 flight on Alaska Airlines’ new 737 MAX 9, forcing pilots to make an emergency landing. The FAA audit also found serious problems.
Whitaker told ABC News that the 90-day plan, which expires next week, “This is not the end of the process. “This is a start and it will be a long road for Boeing to get back to where it needs to produce safe airplanes.”.
