Iraqi Kurdistan Prime Minister Masrour Barzani met with Kuwaiti Ambassador to Iraq Tarek Abdullah Al-Faraj and his accompanying delegation, Shafaq News reported on May 23.
According to a statement from the Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government, Barzani received Ambassador Al-Faraj along with Kuwaiti Consul General in the Kurdistan Region Osman al-Dawood.
The statement notes that during the meeting both sides exchanged views on the possibilities of increasing Kuwaiti investments in various sectors of Iraqi Kurdistan.
“The meeting emphasized the importance of strengthening the friendship between Kurdistan and Kuwait, highlighting their shared history of fighting oppression and dictatorship.”the statement says.
For his part, Ambassador Al-Faraj expressed “Kuwait’s respect for Kurdistan’s role”reaffirming his country’s desire to strengthen bilateral relations.
