“I think that all conditions have been created to continue to be the coach of Benfica, Roger Schmidt will continue to be the coach of Benfica. Being a coach would obviously be a simpler, more populist option, but I believe in the stability of the project, I believe in a coach who has already shown more than enough of his qualities. What was done last season cannot be the result of an accident. There were indeed things this year that did not go the way we expected and hoped, we finished the season below our original expectations, but I do not and will never make this coach a scapegoat because he was not the only one to blame. He will also have his own responsibilities, obviously and integral ones, but he is not the only one at all, and for us now it is important to create the necessary internal conditions so that he can do the same work as he did a year ago. and it is with him that I am completely convinced that we will achieve titles next year. And it is in this sense that we have been working for a long time to correct what was done wrong this year, and so that we can enter the next season the same way we entered a year ago,” the Reds head told reporters.
