An accelerated regulatory review led the Dutch Minister of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality, Piet Adema, to approve the use of a third vaccine against bluetongue, the Dutch portal Nieuwe Oogst reported on May 24.
Two million doses of the bluetongue vaccine from Kernfarm/CZ Vaccines are now available on the Dutch market. The medicine has received a positive recommendation from the Veterinary Medicines Division of the Medicines Evaluation Board (MEB) and the Veterinary Medicines Registration Committee.
“With the arrival of the third vaccine, which will be immediately available on the Dutch market, livestock farmers will have even more security and freedom of choice.“,” Adem was quick to please the farmers. — This is good news for both animals and farmers. “This means there are more than enough vaccines to prevent serious infections this summer.”.
The Minister considered that the department received “sufficient information on efficacy, safety and quality” new drug. As of May 27, the first delivery of this vaccine to veterinary clinics is now possible.
