As part of compensation measures, the Kamchatka water company released 7,000 chum salmon fry into the Zelenovsky stream, the press service of the executive bodies of the Kamchatka Territory reported on May 24.
The KSUE “Kamchatsky Vodokanal” plans to build a new complex of engineering and technical means to protect the Avachinsky water intake. The legislation obliges an economic entity to carry out, that is, compensate for, damage caused to aquatic biological resources, before starting work.
Fulfilling this requirement, the KSUE Vodocanal of Kamchatka raised seven thousand chum salmon fry at the facilities of the Ketkino salmon hatchery. Employees of the Kamchatka Vodokanal and representatives of Glavrybvod carried out a joint action to release fry into the Zelenovsky stream.
Let us remember that if in neighboring Chukotka salmon production has decreased for the second year, in Kamchatka the 2023 production produced record results: 490.5 thousand tons of salmon.
