Analysts at VTB bank believe that the Central Bank of Russia will maintain the key interest rate of 16%, TASS reported on May 24.
According to the agency, this was stated by the director of VTB, Andrei Kostin, during a conversation with wealthy clients of the bank.
“Until recently we believed that [ключевая ставка] will serve [вниз]. Now our analysts believe that it will continue because inflation… Precisely due to the fact that money continues to flow into the system, despite high interest rates on loans, the Central Bank may be more conservative and refuse to reduce until the end of the year and we will maintain the plus-minus rate at this level”TASS quotes Kostin.
It should be noted that the next meeting of the Board of Directors of the Central Bank is scheduled for June 7, 2024, at which, among other things, the issue of changing the key exchange rate will be decided.
Recall that on April 26, the Bank of Russia kept the key interest rate at 16% per year. According to the Central Bank’s forecasts, inflation for 2024 will be 4.3% to 4.8%. Previously, this figure was expected to be between 4% and 4.5%.
