The Lisbon Administrative Court ordered the Agency for Integration, Migration and Asylum (AIMA) to make a decision within 30 days on the request of a Pakistani immigrant who had been waiting a year for a residence permit in Portugal, according to Newspaper.
The immigrant expressed interest in living in the country in December 2021. The complaint was lodged by him in December last year as he did not receive any response from AIMA within 90 working days after the request was made on the online portal. The Pakistani demanded that AIMA immediately issue a residence permit, but the court concluded that such a sentence was impossible.
According to the court, the Agency for Integration, Migration and Asylum delayed the process due to the “inertia of the administration.”
