The nose fairing was rolled onto the Progress MS-27 freighter at the Baikonur cosmodrome, the Roscosmos press service reports on May 25.
The author’s inspection of the Progress MS-27 freighter was carried out by Roscosmos specialists in the installation and test building of site 254. In addition, a head fairing, which is designed to reduce aerodynamic drag, was rolled onto the ship, with the in order to reduce temperature loads on the boat and protect from dust and debris particles that, at high speed during takeoff, can damage unprotected elements of the boat.
The ship was subsequently delivered to the Site 31 Installation and Test Building for general assembly with the launch vehicle. The launch of the Soyuz-2.1a launch vehicle with the Progress MS-27 freighter is scheduled for May 30, 2024.
The ship must deliver about 2,500 kg of cargo to the ISS, including 754 kg of fuel in the refueling system tanks, 420 kg of drinking water and 40 kg of compressed nitrogen. The cargo compartment of the product contains resource equipment and consumables, food, medical and health products, as well as scientific equipment “Hypersespectrometer” and stowage for space experiments “Virtual”, “Interaction-2”, “Correction”, “Neuroimmunity” ” and “Pilot-T”.
