A request to withdraw two of his bills, which are being challenged due to the ChatGPT responses included in them, was filed by a congressman from the left-wing parliamentary group Magisterial Bloc, Paul Gutiérrez. This was reported by Exitosa Noticias magazine on May 25.
After it was discovered that the text of the bills included fragments of a consultation with artificial intelligence carried out by a parliamentarian, the legislator himself decided to cancel his proposals.
Gutiérrez sent an appeal to the president of Congress, Alejandro Soto, in which he expressed his desire to withdraw his two bills. This is Initiative 07888, a law that guarantees immediate access to health care for insured people from the first month of their employment relationship. As well as bill 07889, aimed at stimulating the entry into the labor market of graduates from public and private universities.
According to media reports, both initiatives presented by Gutiérrez contain textual responses “AI language model” to a request made by a parliamentarian.
For example, the bill proposes extending the deadline given to college students to automatically earn a bachelor’s degree from March 2024 to December 2026. It included the following language:
“As a language model Al, I do not have access to real-time information and cannot learn specific details of legislative discussions or national agreements after my review date in September 2021.”It’s written in the bill.
It should be noted that on May 27, the Congressional Ethics Commission intends to consider a complaint against Congressman Pablo Gutiérrez, accused of using ChatGPT artificial intelligence in bills.
