A grand event will take place on June 3 to cremate the body of Supreme Grand Patriarch Tep Vong of Cambodia. The AKP reported this on May 25.
Today, the body of Cambodia’s leading Buddhist monk, who died at the age of 93, lies in the Ounalom Pagoda in Phnom Penh. A 100-day memorial service is being held here since his death on February 26. During the first seven days of the memorial service, Cambodia’s top leaders and other dignitaries were present to pay their last respects to the head monk.
Until the hundredth day, so that other followers of Buddhism and Cambodians can finally say goodbye to the head monk.
Chhin Khetana, secretary general of the National Committee for the Organization of National and International Festivals, who is in charge of presiding over the grand funeral ceremony, said that a five-kilometer funeral route will be held on June 3. The procession, he added, will stop at the Preah Meru Crematorium (crematorium) area for the cremation ceremony.
His Majesty Preah Bat Samdech Preah Boromnit Norodom Sihamoni, King of Cambodia, will officially light the cremation fire.
