Kuban farmers have harvested almost 100 tons of cherries; Their plans for the year are 2,000 tons. This was announced by Kuban Governor Veniamin Kondratiev on May 26 on the website of the regional administration.
“Kuban farmers collected almost a hundred tons of aromatic cherries. Large volumes of early varieties grow in the gardens of the Yeisk and Slavyansk regions. “The farmers’ forecasts for this year’s harvest are two thousand tons.”said the governor.
Kondratiev emphasized the importance of supporting horticulture in the region, including returning part of the costs of starting new orchards and subsidizing their care until the first harvest.
According to him, thanks to this policy, in addition to providing farms with local planting material, the Krasnodar region continues to lead the country, providing 40% of the fruit and berry harvest.
Cherries are sold through retail chains, markets and weekend fairs, while in Krasnodar there are five such fairs in the summer, where, in addition to cherries, cherries, strawberries, vegetables and herbs are presented.
It should be noted that Kuban occupies a leading position among berry producers in Russia, and the contribution of family farms accounts for about 97% of the total production.
