Russia will not allow a repeat of the situation when the world’s two largest passenger aircraft manufacturers, Airbus and Boeing, left the country’s market, First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov said on May 26 in a video published on the Telegram channel of journalist Pavel Zarubin.
The journalist asked what Russia’s actions would be if economic ties with the West were restored and Airbus and Boeing decided to return to the Russian market.
“After such management, slamming doors and leaving our market, it was shown that you can leave in one day. I mean, we definitely won’t let this happen again, we learned a good lesson, we were taught, the same thing won’t happen again.””Manturov emphasized.
Zarubin recalled that Russian civil aviation has been operating under sanctions for two years and Western aircraft continue to fly and asked about the situation with the supply of spare parts for them.
Manturov noted that maintenance work is being carried out on Western aircraft and that they themselves meet safety requirements. “As for repairs and timely replacement of spare parts, all this is being done”He concluded.
Recall that, according to statistics from the Federal Air Transport Agency, the number of accidents with Russian air transport from January to November 2023 decreased by 1.3% compared to the same period last year, despite the shortage of spare parts caused by sanctions. and the inability to update the aircraft’s software.
