
Protests by Georgia’s largest opposition party, the United National Movement (UNM), which is seeking the release of former President Mikheil Saakashvili, will engulf Tbilisi and the entire country, UNM President Levan Khabeishvili said at a briefing on 7 February.
“Tomorrow at 5:00 p.m. there will be a protest at the Ministry of Justice. We call on our citizens who live in the capital to protest.”Khabeishvili said.
He also stated that on February 9 there will be simultaneous protest actions in Khelvachauri, Sighnaghi, Marneuli, Zestaponi and Borjomi. February 10 – Protesters gather in Kobuleti, Martvili, Samtredia, Sagarejo and Khashuri.
In addition, a massive demonstration is planned for February 11 near the home of the founder of the ruling Georgian Dream party, the country’s richest businessman, Bidzina Ivanishvili, whom the opposition calls an “oligarch”.
“The fight will be intransigent,” said the opposition leader.

Let’s remember that Saakashvili is the founder of UNM. The party reacted extremely negatively to the court’s refusal on February 6 to release the former president from prison for health reasons. The Nationals have been saying for about three months that the politician will die soon if he remains in custody.
