The Iranian Electoral Headquarters has reported that the deadline for the presentation of candidacies will be open between May 30 and June 3, after which a final list of approved candidates will be published about two weeks before the elections, which will be the June 28th.
The Iranian Minister of the Interior, Ahmad Vahidi, announced this Sunday andThe formal start of the call process and holding early presidential elections after the death of president Ebrahim Raisi last Sunday in a helicopter accident.
He decree of Vahidi orders the governors of the Iranian provinces and cities to creation of executive electoral commissions within three days.
Article 131 of the Iranian Constitution states that elections must be held in a maximum period of 50 days from the day of death or declaration of incapacity of a president.
The day after Raisi’s death, representatives of the three branches of the Iranian State met and agreed on the June 28 as the date for voting.
