Disapproval of the government of Peruvian President Dina Boluarte has increased to 90% of citizens surveyed by the Institute of Peruvian Studies. This was reported by the newspaper La República on May 26.
The survey was carried out between May 18 and 23. Their results showed that 9 out of 10 Peruvians have a negative assessment of Boluarte’s performance as head of state. The unpopularity of the Peruvian Congress is also growing, as 91% of respondents disapprove of its work. At the same time, only 6% of respondents are satisfied with their work.
According to 72% of Peruvians, the country’s economy is more or less affected by the political crisis. And only 16% believe that the political crisis has little effect on the economic situation in Peru, and 9% of the participants believe that the crisis has no effect on the economy.
Furthermore, 55% of participants agree that Peru’s economic situation will worsen over the next 12 months. Only 10% of the population is more optimistic and believes that the economic situation will improve during this period.
Furthermore, citizens’ hopes in the fight against corruption have not become more encouraging. Half of those surveyed believe that the Boluarte government will end up being more corrupt than the previous ones, 42% believe that it will be just as corrupt and only 5% believe that it will end up being less corrupt.
Let us remember that a Datum survey carried out in the first weeks of April showed that the Peruvian population’s rejection of the head of state’s actions increased, reaching 88%. A month earlier, this figure was recorded at 85%.
