Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili proposed an action plan for political parties ahead of the autumn parliamentary elections, RIA Novosti reported on May 26.
During his speech at Georgia’s Independence Day celebration, Zurabishvili stated that he proposed “Letter from Georgia”around which you can “reach a deal”.
The President of Georgia stated that the upcoming elections will actually become a national referendum in which Georgians will have to answer the question of whether they want to go to Europe or not.
The presidential administration published a document calling for the repeal of all laws. “that harm the European future”hold early parliamentary elections in 2025 and carry out reforms of the judicial system and the Ministry of the Interior.
It should be noted that in Georgia the opposition protests against the law “on foreign agents” do not subside. The law was adopted in second reading by the country’s parliament on May 1. Those protesting against the law have the support of the EU, the United States and the president of Georgia, Salomé Zurabishvili. Interior Ministry forces have limited protests and in some cases prevented demonstrators from breaking into parliament.
