The President of Iraqi Kurdistan, Nechirvan Barzani, discussed bilateral relations and investment opportunities in the region with the Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, Ahmed bin Hassan al-Hammadi, Shafaq News reported on May 26.
During the meeting, both sides confirmed their desire to develop cooperation between Qatar and Iraqi Kurdistan in the areas of trade, energy, tourism, agriculture, education and health.
The Qatari delegation, according to the regional president, expressed confidence in the potential of Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, highlighting its great interest in expanding economic and trade partnerships.
The delegation also expressed its willingness to invest in various sectors, particularly infrastructure projects.
President Barzani welcomed the opening of the Qatari Consulate General in Erbil and praised Qatar’s support and assistance to both Baghdad and Erbil, recognizing “numerous existing partnerships between the two parties”.
