The renewed Volga brand car, in its basic configuration, will be produced at the facilities of the GAZ plant, as reported on May 27 by the First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, Denis Manturov, in a conversation with journalists.
As Manturov noted, “In principle it will be at the GAZ facilities”. Commenting on the cost of such a Volga, the official noted that “By autumn everything will be clear both in terms of nomenclature and prices”.
When journalists asked if it would be necessary to build a new company to collect data on the vehicles, Manturov responded: “The plant is large, there is enough capacity to cover the volume needed”.
Recall that Manturov was the first to make statements about his plans to return the Volga brand to the Russian automobile market in 2022, and in 2023 he announced his decision. At the same time, the question of which production facilities will be used to produce cars has not yet been resolved.
At the same time, experts previously noted that it would not be possible to create a full-fledged production facility producing all components of the car in a short time. They believe that for now it will only be possible to create a car assembly company from foreign components.
Note that Volga cars stopped being produced at GAZ factories in 2010. And until 2022, their production continued at Volkswagen and Skoda factories, using their equipment. After the introduction of sanctions, the companies left Russia and left the equipment to GAZ.
