Russia’s Agriculture Ministry is going to introduce a state of emergency at the federal level against the backdrop of unprecedented May frosts in many regions of the country, the head of the department, Oksana Lut, told reporters in Tashkent.
Frosts in many regions of the Russian Federation led to massive destruction of agricultural crops. Authorities in the Voronezh, Rostov, Lipetsk, Tambov and Volgograd regions had already declared a state of emergency.
The Ministry of Agriculture wants to introduce this regime throughout Russia. According to Lut, the period during which this regime will operate is still unclear.
“We will introduce a federal one. and to compensate [ущерб от холодов] Let’s ask the government.”said the head of the department.
According to the law, the provision of state support is possible when the risks of crop loss are insured, including due to natural emergencies. The volume of crop losses is determined by a special commission for the prevention and liquidation of emergency situations.
