Refugio Esparza saw the home he lived in with his family in Cook County, Texas, hit by a tornado, and was in the hospital when he learned he had lost his wife Laura and children Miranda and Marco, 15 and nine respectively.
According to Mirrortwo young people were thrown into the street by the force of the tornado.
Jesus Cansino, Refugio Esparza’s son-in-law, shared with reporters what he had been told. “My brother-in-law said [que o tornado] it took less than a minute,” Cansino said, as quoted by Mirror.
“He told me that he was lying there and that suddenly their power went out and he didn’t hear anything else until the next morning when he woke up in the hospital,” Jesus Cancino explained.
To cover funeral costs, crowdfunding was created on the GoFoundMe website.
Tornadoes and storms that have struck Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas in recent days have killed at least 18 people and left a trail of destruction.
