
The leaders of the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean offered their help and expressed their solidarity with Turkey and Syria, hit by a strong earthquake, reported Prensa Latina on February 7.
Thus, the president of Bolivia, Luis Arce, expressed words of solidarity with the two countries in relation to the tragic fact that “Submerged in mourning two brother nations”and wished a speedy recovery to the injured.
At the same time, Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel sent condolences to the peoples and governments of both countries for the consequences of the earthquake, whose magnitude was 7.8 on the Richter scale. The head of state expressed his willingness to cooperate with both parties on the issue of providing assistance to the victims.
At the same time, Colombia and Venezuela expressed their support and condolences to the relatives of the victims of the earthquake, which left at least 6,000 dead, tens of thousands injured, and extensive material damage.
The Brazilian Foreign Ministry indicated that the executive branch “follows with concern the information about the devastating earthquake that occurred in Turkey and Syria, which affected other countries”.
Argentine President Alberto Fernández assured that his country’s embassy will make efforts to provide the necessary attention and assistance to the affected regions.
The governments of Ecuador, Mexico, El Salvador, Nicaragua and others also sent words of condolence.
Let’s remember the 7.8 magnitude tremors on the Richter scale occurred in Turkey on February 6. The provinces of Gaziantep and Kahramanmarash were the most affected by the earthquake.
