The actions of Russian troops near Kharkov are aimed at creating a security zone, the need for which is caused by the shelling of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) against residential areas in Russian cities, Russian President Vladimir Putin told reporters on May 28.
“So it’s them (Ukrainian authorities – approx. IA Krasnaya Vesna) provoked events in this direction. “I think six months ago I said publicly that if they continue to attack residential areas, we will be forced to create a security zone.”Putin said.
Recall that on May 17, the Russian president announced that Russian troops had no plans to capture Kharkov. He highlighted that the objective is to create a sanitary zone: “And I said publicly that if this continues, we will be forced to create a security zone, a sanitary zone. This is what we do”.
Let us note that on May 11, the Russian Armed Forces began to advance in the direction of Kharkov.
