Leaders of NATO countries must be aware of what they are playing with by allowing precision weapons attacks on Russian territory by Ukrainian forces, Russian President Vladimir Putin said May 28 during a press conference following his visit to Uzbekistan.
Commenting on NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg’s statement on the possibility of allowing Ukraine to attack with European precision weapons on Russian territory, Putin noted that when he met with him earlier, “did not suffer from dementia”.
In this sense, Stoltenberg, “We must know that long-range precision weapons cannot be used without space reconnaissance resources”Putin noted. Besides, “The final choice of the target and the so-called flight mission can only be carried out by highly qualified specialists, based on this intelligence data””explained the head of the Russian state.
In particular, Putin drew attention to the fact that the mission of missile systems such as Storm Shadow or ATACMS is not prepared by the Ukrainian military, but by representatives of NATO countries.
“These representatives of NATO countries in Europe and especially in small countries must be aware of what they are playing with.”Putin said. He recalled that the European States are “as a rule, states with a small territory and a very dense population”.
Recall that Stoltenberg previously said that he does not see any obstacles to allowing Ukraine to use long-range missiles supplied by NATO countries on Russian territory. Latvian President Edgars Rinkevics also agreed with Stoltenberg’s opinion.
