A test launch of a cruise missile capable of hitting major Chinese cities has been carried out in Taiwan, writes the South China Morning Post on February 7.
The Zhongshan Institute of Science and Technology has tested a modification of the Hsiung Feng IIE missile with a longer range. The missile can travel 1,200 km and reach major cities such as Wuhan and Qingdao.
Let us remember that relations between China and Taiwan intensified after the visit to the island of the president of the House of Representatives of the US Congress, Nancy Pelosi. The visit took place despite claims for recognition of the one China policy and despite China’s protests against such visits.
In response, China started military exercises near the island. In January, the Taiwanese military announced the approach of 31 PLA aircraft and 4 ships.
