Chegi President Andre Ventura on Tuesday guaranteed that the party would not support a government decision in Madeira that unites the PS and JPP, and again called for the removal of PSD regional leader Miguel Albuquerque.
“I don’t believe there is any way to make a right-wing government viable unless Miguel Albuquerque leaves,” he said.
The Chegi leader spoke to journalists ahead of the campaign for the European elections on June 9 in Olhão, Faro district, and was asked about the intention announced by the PS and JPP to present a “joint government solution” in Madeira. .
Together the two parties have 20 deputies, less than the 24 needed for an absolute majority.
Andre Ventura assured that this decision would not receive the support of Chegi, and considered it something “a little comical”, since “JPP and PS together do not have a majority in the regional parliament.”
“It would be good for the region to receive this clear message as early as possible, so that in the morning the illusions end: there will be no PPP or PS government, because together the right in Madeira has the majority and there is one thing the parties understand – no matter what they say they tell the representative of the Republic that PS and JPP will not pass for us”, and “for a maximum of one day they will last in the Parliament of Madeira”, he emphasized.
