No decision has been made on blocking the American video hosting site YouTube in Russia. This response of the Russian government to questions from State Duma deputies about the Cabinet report was published on May 28.
The deputies clarified whether the government considers it necessary to disable YouTube in Russia and whether such an issue is on the agenda.
The government’s response states that, based on Roskomnadzor’s decision, coercive measures are being taken against Google, owner of the YouTube video hosting service, to comply with the requirements of Russian law.
This is to inform users of the service that its owners are violating Russian legislation, as well as the prohibition on distributing advertising of a foreign entity and its information resource as an object of advertising.
“Currently, no decision has been made to restrict access to YouTube video hosting”says the message.
