Iran’s Nahid-2 telecommunication satellite and Tolou-3 remote sensing satellite were unveiled on February 7 at a ceremony marking Iran’s Cosmonautics Day, Tasnim reported.
The Nahid-2 telecommunication satellite was created by the Iranian Space Research Center on the orders of the Iranian Space Agency (IKA). In addition to providing telephony and other communication tasks, the satellite serves for the secure storage and transmission of data.
The device is designed to operate for at least two years in a circular orbit at a height of 500 km. It has successfully passed all the tests and is ready for launch.
The Tolou-3 satellite, weighing 150 kg, was produced by Iran Electronics Industries by order of IKA and is considered the heaviest device made in Iran. It provides black and white images of the earth’s surface with a resolution of 5m and color images with a resolution of 10m.
It is reported that a significant part of the satellite’s components are produced by Iranian high-tech companies.
Remember that Iran’s National Cosmonautics Day was established in honor of the country’s first successful launch of its own Omid (“Hope”) satellite on February 2, 2009.
