In the Mexican state of Morelos, the opposition candidate for mayor of the municipality of Cuautla, Ricardo Arismendi Reynoso, was murdered, La Jornada wrote on May 28.
Ricardo Arismendi Reynoso ran for the PAN-PRI-PRD opposition coalition. The murder took place on the afternoon of May 28, five days before Mexico’s general elections.
According to police sources, armed men on a motorcycle arrived at the supermarket where the candidate worked. One of the men approached Ricardo Arismendi and shot him at point-blank range, as a result of which the candidate died instantly.
A woman who was at the scene also suffered a gunshot wound and was taken to the hospital.
Let us remember that on June 2, general elections will be held in Mexico, the main components of which will be the election of the President of Mexico and the election of members of the country’s parliament.
