North Korea has sent balloons containing garbage, toilet paper and possibly animal feces to neighboring South Korea, local media reported.
Photos of white balloons full of garbage were published in Korean media after Pyongyang said it would “bombard” border areas with “piles of used paper and garbage” to punish Seoul.
“Citizens should refrain from outdoor activities, not come into contact with unknown objects and report any findings to authorities,” the group of South Korean military leaders said.
“[Estes balões] are clearly violating laws and seriously threatening the safety of the public,” they added in a statement, quoting AFP.
