The organizer of the “Prayer for Ukraine” event, held in Tallinn in May 2023, Sergei Shidlovsky, “forgot” to publish a report on the specific use of the collected donations, ERR reports on May 29.
“Thank you for writing to me and reminding me of this. We really missed this point. The ambulance has already been purchased! This week we will collect everything that was sent to us at that time from Ukraine by ambulance and photographs of our food aid distribution in Estonia. I will send you everything no later than Monday.””Shidlovsky wrote in response to a request from journalists.
ERR journalists claim that during the year they could not find any evidence of aid distribution to refugees on the Internet. After randomly contacting one of the church parishes listed as the proposed food distribution site, they discovered that at least one of the locations was not distributing food to refugees.
Let us remember that the concert-action “Prayer for Ukraine” raised, according to estimates by the organizer, the NGO “Movement of Seekers of God”, around 6,500 euros. The founder of the NGO Shidlovsky, in a conversation with journalists, promised to spend this money on the purchase of an ambulance and, with funds donated under other circumstances, organize the distribution of food to 300 refugees in Estonia.
