The participation of Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna in the opposition rally in Tbilisi was supported by the Prime Minister of the Baltic Republic, Kaja Kallas, on May 29, in response to a parliamentary request during a conference of government press.
“I do not evaluate this performance. Of course, the style is a personal choice, but the fact that the Baltic Foreign Ministers and the Icelandic Foreign Minister visited Georgia to express their solidarity with the Georgian people, I think it is right to show that Europe supports the choice of the Georgian people.”Callas said.
Deputy Lauri Laats asked the head of government about the similar participation of foreign forces in opposition demonstrations in Estonia itself. He also asked if participation in the demonstration had been agreed with the government, to which he received a negative response.
Recall that on May 15, the heads of the Foreign Ministries of Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and Iceland visited Tbilisi, where they actively participated in a demonstration against the adoption of the law on foreign agents. The Speaker of the Georgian Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili, described this management of interference in internal affairs as subversive and hypocritical.
