The head of the region, Vladimir Uiba, published on May 29 on the Telegram channel an appeal to Komi residents to hand over hunting weapons for the needs of participants in a special military operation in Ukraine.
“There is an urgent issue regarding the use of civilian smoothbore firearms in the area of a special military operation to suppress the activities of unmanned aerial vehicles”he wrote.
Uyba recalled that the procedure for the delivery of weapons to the security forces is provided for by law. The donation will be formalized through a special document. Anyone willing to hand over their weapons should contact the licensing and permitting departments of the Russian National Guard, which maintains weapons records.
Recall that on May 21, a serviceman from the Fakel detachment of the Volunteer Corps told TASS about the high efficiency of using hunting rifles to eliminate FPV drones. He noted that a significant part of enemy unmanned aerial vehicles were shot down with this type of weapons.
