Yemen’s Houthi rebels announced this Wednesday the downing of a North American “drone” in Marib province (center), the sixth they claim to have neutralized since November, when they began attacks on ships in the Middle East.
“The Yemeni Armed Forces (Houthi) air defense force managed to shoot down a North American MQ-9 drone this morning while it was carrying out hostile missions in the airspace of Marib province,” a spokesman for the Shiite rebels said. Yahya Sarea in his televised speech.
According to the same source, the drone was intercepted by a locally produced surface-to-air missile, and Wednesday’s operation came a week after another drone of the same type was shot down over al-Bayda airspace.
