Sevastopol hotels refused to raise prices in the summer due to the small number of guests; 20% of small hotels did not open at the beginning of the season, Irina Korda, president of the Sevastopol Commonwealth of Hoteliers, told ForPost on May 30.
According to the expert, some hotels did not open at the beginning of the season due to unclear forecasts about the number of tourists.
“Many objects have not been opened in Fiolent, in Cossack Bay. According to my calculations, this represents about 20% of small hotels,” added the hotelier from Sevastopol.
At the same time, in June room reservations in Sevastopol range from 15 to 20%, in July and August – about 50%.
It should be noted that in the last two years there has been a significant outflow of tourists to Crimea. This is mainly due to the closure of the air port – Simferopol airport.
Against this background, the Sevastopol authorities do not abandon their attempts to turn the city into a tourist mecca, turning the building of the Central Naval Design Bureau into a VIP hotel.
