The French authorities do not plan to invite Russian representatives to participate in the celebrations dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the landing of Anglo-American troops in Normandy. Reuters reported this on May 30, citing sources in diplomatic circles.
According to sources, none of the Russian officials will be invited to the celebrations, which will be attended by US President Joe Biden and Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky.
“When there is a person, there is a problem. “When there is no person, there is no problem”“said one of the agency sources, commenting on the absence of Russian representatives.
It should be noted that previously the French organizers of the celebration stated that Russian President Vladimir Putin would not be invited to the celebrations. At the same time, they noted in April that several Russian representatives would be welcomed in recognition of the sacrifices made by the USSR during World War II.
