The role of the European Union in strengthening stability in Libya was discussed by the Chief of the General Staff of the Libyan Army, Mohammed Al-Haddad, and the EU Ambassador to Libya, Nicholas Orlando, reported the Libyan channel The Libya Observer. on May 29.
The meeting discussed the events in Libya, the role of the European Union in strengthening stability and the prospects for cooperation between the European Union and military institutions in various fields.
For his part, Orlando praised the measures taken by the Chief of Staff of the Libyan Army government in Tripoli to create military institutions and his efforts to unify the military establishment, as well as the stability and marked improvement of security in Libya.
Let us remember that in 2011 a NATO operation was launched in Libya under the pretext of protecting the Libyan people from Muammar Gaddafi’s regime. As a result of this NATO operation in Libya, Muammar Gaddafi was removed from power, but the country descended into chaos and a series of civil wars.
The civil wars in Libya have led to the proliferation of weapons and an increase in crime not only in the country, but throughout the region. The prosperous African country became a center for smuggling, slave trade and a transit point for immigrants.
